Jose “El Niño” Ribalta was born March 31, 1963 in Rodrigo, Cuba.  He arrived in the United States (Washington D.C.)  when he was four years old.  Five years later, Mr. Ribalta moved to Miami and attended Allapattah Elementary School and graduated from Miami Jackson Senior High School in 1983.

Jose Ribalta was recently inducted into the 2014 Florida Boxing Hall of Fame.  During his boxing career he boxed 12 world champions.  That impressive list includes Vitali Klitschko, Chris Byrd, Tony Tubbs, Larry Holmes, Mike Tyson, Michael Dokes, Frank Bruno, Bruce Seldon, Tim Witherspoon, Leon Spinks, James Bonecrusher Smith and Axel Schultz.

Mr. Ribalta started working as a school security monitor at Citrus Grove Elementary School in 1998.  Then, he worked at Norland Middle School in 1999 and Robert Renick Education Center from 2000 to 2010.  From 2010 to the present, Mr. Ribalta has worked as a full time security guard at Fienberg-Fisher K-8 Center.  Currently, Mr. Ribalta lives in Miami Gardens and he works with people with autism.

The School Board appreciates the efforts of Jose Ribalta for keeping our schools safe.  He is a Miami-Dade resident for nearly 40 years who has shown great commitment to the well-being of the students, parents, and families of Miami-Dade County Public Schools.
